In an alarming development within the Uttar Pradesh police force, a Sub-Inspector attached to the Siroli police station in Bareilly has been suspended following severe allegations of sexual exploitation. A woman has formally complained that the officer manipulated her by promising a stable job and marriage to facilitate his actions. Upon receiving the complaint, senior police officials took immediate disciplinary action, placing the accused officer under suspension.
Promises of Marriage and Employment
In her detailed complaint filed with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anurag Arya, the victim narrated that she first encountered Sub-Inspector Naresh Babu in 2025. She had visited the Baradari police station to initiate legal action against her husband and in-laws. According to her statement, the officer not only listened to her grievances but also leveraged his alleged close connections with senior officers to promise her a position within the police department. Capitalizing on this newfound trust, Naresh Babu allegedly promised to divorce his own spouse and marry the woman. The victim claims that based on these assurances, the officer began visiting her residence frequently and coerced her into engaging in sexual relations.
Allegations of Financial Fraud
Beyond the allegations of sexual exploitation, the victim has accused Sub-Inspector Naresh Babu of significant financial misconduct. She stated that after the festival of Karwa Chauth last year, the officer began staying at her home. In February 2026, he purportedly persuaded her to hand over gold jewelry valued at approximately eight lakh rupees under the pretext of his son's upcoming wedding. When the victim later demanded the return of her valuables, the officer allegedly started making excuses and eventually resorted to intimidation when she pressed the matter further.
Departmental Inquiry Initiated
The victim supported her complaint with evidence, including photographs and video footage documenting her interactions with the officer. SSP Anurag Arya confirmed that based on the preliminary findings of the complaint, Naresh Babu has been suspended from duty. The official further noted that a comprehensive departmental inquiry has been entrusted to Superintendent of Police (South) Anshika Verma. Further legal and disciplinary actions will be determined strictly based on the conclusions of this investigation.
