A massive political controversy has erupted following alleged objectionable remarks made by Uttar Pradesh Congress in-charge Rajendra Pal Gautam. Accusations have been leveled that he made highly derogatory comments against the people of Bihar. The political temperature soared after his remarks regarding Bharatiya Janata Party national president Nitin Navin in response to a question. Consequently, BJP leaders in Bihar have launched a scathing attack on Rajendra Pal Gautam and the Congress party, demanding an immediate apology. Meanwhile, Gautam has defended himself by claiming that his statements are being distorted and misrepresented, and that he made no such remarks.
Rajendra Pal Gautam Denies Using the Word 'Bihari'

Ravi Shankar Prasad Slams the Remarks
Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament Ravi Shankar Prasad strongly objected to the alleged comments by Rajendra Pal Gautam. Expressing deep anguish, he stated that it is extremely unfortunate for a key party functionary holding the post of UP Congress in-charge to make such shameful remarks. Condemning the statement in the strongest possible terms, Prasad questioned how anyone could dare speak in such a manner about the people of Bihar. He emphasized that the nation takes immense pride in India, just as citizens take pride in being Bihari, noting that the state has produced countless leaders, poets, writers, judges, and civil servants.
Giridhar Singh and Central Leadership Under Fire
Union Minister Giriraj Singh also joined the chorus of condemnation, targeting Rajendra Pal Gautam and demanding an unconditional apology. Directing his criticism at Rahul Gandhi, Singh alleged that since the Congress leadership no longer has the direct courage to abuse people, they are resorting to using their associates in Uttar Pradesh to insult the citizens of Bihar. He questioned whether Congress leaders have any knowledge of the history and geography of Bihar. Political records indicate that Congress had appointed Rajendra Pal Gautam as the Uttar Pradesh in-charge in July of this year, assigning him a major organizational role. Previously, Gautam was associated with the Aam Aadmi Party and served as a minister in Arvind Kejriwal's government before quitting AAP to join the Congress party in 2024.
