In Uttar Pradesh's Mahoba district, the younger generation has started raising its voice directly before the administration regarding basic amenities and fundamental rights. A large group of children, accompanied by numerous villagers and women, reached the local collectorate on Monday to stage a demonstration. The primary grievance presented by the young protesters was the pathetic condition of dilapidated roads in their villages, which has severely disrupted daily life and made commuting extremely difficult, particularly for students. They submitted a formal complaint letter to the District Magistrate, demanding the swift construction of concrete roads to resolve their daily hardships.
Dependence on Muddy Footpaths and Lack of Paved Access
While presenting their grievances before the Mahoba DM on Monday, the children pointed out the stark contrast between official paperwork and ground reality. They explained that the village of Illahipura Gyodi is situated roughly 500 meters away from the Khanna main thoroughfare, yet it lacks any paved road connecting it to the main network. Residents are forced to rely entirely on an unpaved footpath. During the monsoon season, this stretch becomes heavily waterlogged and filled with thick mud, making it treacherous for children traveling to and from school. Expectant mothers, elderly residents, and sick individuals face immense difficulty simply reaching the main road.
Monsoon Mudslides and Ambulances Failing to Reach Villages
The situation is equally dire in village Disrapur Bilwai, specifically along the route stretching from the Hazrat Ibrahim Shahid Dargah to the railway track. According to the villagers, the area lacks proper paving or brick-laying, leaving the pathway submerged under knee-deep slush, debris, and mud after every rainfall. The children shared that the slippery conditions frequently cause them to fall and sustain injuries, ruining their uniforms, shoes, and school bags in the process. Fearing for their safety, several parents hesitate to send their children to school, directly harming their education. Villagers also alleged that due to the ruined condition of the path, emergency vehicles such as 102 and 108 ambulances cannot reach the village during medical crises, often requiring residents to carry pregnant women and critical patients across the marshy terrain on makeshift cots.
Appeal to the District Magistrate and BSA Rahul Mishra's Ground Visit
The protesting children and villagers urged the district administration to conduct an on-site inspection of the roads in both villages and expedite the construction of reliable concrete pathways. The children emphasized that the absence of such a basic amenity is crippling their daily routine and educational progress. Taking immediate cognizance of the situation, District Basic Education Officer Rahul Mishra asked the children to take him to the village so he could witness the road conditions firsthand. He assured them that the damaged route would be repaired promptly and personally accompanied the children toward the village to inspect the site.
