A shocking incident unfolded in the city of Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, on the night of July 23, leaving local residents in a state of deep panic. A man who had gone to have dinner at a prominent cafe situated near the bustling Elite Crossing was targeted and shot dead by an unidentified assailant. The sudden gunfire triggered massive chaos and fear among other customers and staff present at the establishment. The victim was immediately rushed to the local medical college for emergency treatment, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Details of the Cafe Shooting in Nawabad Police Jurisdiction
The incident occurred at the D Med Kitchen Cafe, which is located near the Elite Crossing under the jurisdiction of the Nawabad police station. According to the available details, a man identified as Sanjay Singh had visited the cafe in the evening to have a meal in the company of his friends. As they were dining, an unknown gunman entered the cafe and opened fire directly at him. The sudden sound of gunshots created instant panic, causing people inside the restaurant to run for their lives. Seizing the opportunity amid the chaos, the shooter managed to escape from the spot.
Following the shooting, the local authorities were immediately notified. High-ranking police officers along with a heavy police contingent rushed to the scene of the crime. The severely injured Sanjay Singh was quickly transported to the nearby medical college. However, the medical team at the facility declared him dead after examination. To track down the perpetrator, investigators have initiated a thorough search operation in the area, scanning CCTV cameras installed in and around the cafe to identify the shooter and trace his escape route.
Police Launch Intensive Hunt and Form Specialized Investigation Teams
Clarifying the details of the ongoing investigation, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Jhansi, BBGTS Murthy, shared important insights regarding the incident. According to the police chief, Sanjay Yadav had arrived at the restaurant accompanied by his friends to have dinner. Eyewitness accounts suggest that an unidentified attacker approached him and fired a shot using a country-made pistol (locally known as a katta or tamancha). After executing the crime, the assailant utilized one of the restaurant's exits to flee the scene.
The restaurant has two primary doors. SSP BBGTS Murthy noted that the suspect entered through one of these doors, approached the victim, shot him, and quickly escaped through the other door to evade capture. The police department has already established multiple dedicated teams tasked with apprehending the runaway suspect. Investigators are currently reviewing the retrieved CCTV footage from the location and nearby lanes. With some significant clues already in hand, the authorities are working to solve the case and uncover the motive behind this murder.
