In Ward Number 5 of Farah Nagar Panchayat in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh, basic access to clean drinking water has turned into an ongoing ordeal for local residents. For nearly five to six months, people living in the Shahi Sarai Mohalla neighborhood have been struggling without regular running water. Despite new pipelines being installed throughout the area, water supply remains completely non-existent, leaving households stranded and forcing citizens to spend hours searching for potable water elsewhere.
Dry Pipelines and Empty Taps Deepen Household Distress
Water is an essential necessity for daily survival, yet the residents of Farah town have been forced to adjust to prolonged scarcity. Municipal infrastructure was expanded in the locality, and new supply lines were laid down to connect individual households. However, not a single drop of water has flowed through these pipes in the last five months. Public taps positioned along the roadside remain dry and non-functional. Daily routines have been badly disrupted, with families having to travel significant distances every day just to meet their basic drinking and domestic water requirements.
Ignored Official Complaints Trigger Public Anger
The persistent shortage has generated mounting frustration among the affected citizens, who feel neglected by local administrative authorities. According to Dalbir Singh, a resident of Ward Number 5 in Shahi Sarai Mohalla, the community has endured acute distress for five to six months. Residents claim they have submitted written petitions as well as verbal complaints to Nagar Panchayat Chairman Salgiram Batiya on multiple occasions. However, locals allege that their requests were consistently ignored and effectively discarded without any concrete intervention or repair work being undertaken.
Residents Threaten Mass Protest if Supply Is Not Restored
Elected civic representatives were chosen by the public to solve municipal grievances, but residents feel that leadership inactivity has itself become the biggest hurdle. Expressing deep disappointment, local residents including Lilavati, Lakhan Lal, and Pappu Baghel strongly criticized Chairman Salgiram Batiya for failing to deliver fundamental public services. The community has now issued a clear warning to the municipal body, stating that if the water supply issue is not addressed and restored immediately, all residents of the ward will assemble together to launch a large-scale public movement.
