A violent robbery took place late at night in Manjhavan village, located within the Sadh police station jurisdiction of Kanpur district in Uttar Pradesh. Unidentified intruders stormed a residence situated on the outskirts of the village and launched a brutal attack on an elderly couple using sharp-edged weapons while they were asleep. The husband succumbed to his injuries on the spot, whereas his wife sustained severe wounds and remains in critical condition. Before fleeing the scene, the attackers looted valuable items from the house and stole a motorcycle parked inside the premises.
Middle of the Night Attack and House Ransacked
The elderly couple was staying in a house built along the boundary of Manjhavan village. Under the cover of darkness, criminals gained entry into the home and launched an unexpected assault on the sleeping victims with sharp weapons. Hearing the distressed screams echoing from the residence, nearby villagers rushed towards the spot, but by the time they realized what was transpiring, the perpetrators had already carried out the violent act. After committing the murder and assault, the intruders thoroughly searched every room of the house, gathered all accessible valuables, and drove away with a motorcycle that had been parked in the courtyard.
Destruction of Security Cameras and DVR Removal
To evade law enforcement and obscure their identities, the perpetrators carefully attempted to eliminate all digital evidence before departing. They systematically smashed the security CCTV cameras installed around the residence. Furthermore, they disconnected and carried away the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) unit containing the footage of the crime. This deliberate destruction was aimed at ensuring that investigators would not find any immediate video recordings of their entry, movement, or getaway.
Police Investigation, Hospitalization, and Search Operations
Upon receiving news of the horrific incident, personnel from the Sadh police station along with senior police officers dispatched a large force to the crime scene in Manjhavan. Seeing the critical condition of the injured woman, officers summoned an ambulance immediately and transferred her to a nearby hospital, where medical staff reported her state to be extremely delicate. Meanwhile, police officials performed the formal inquest procedures on the deceased husband before transferring his body for an autopsy. Forensic experts arrived at the site to collect physical and scientific evidence, while police established checkpoints and cordons across neighboring areas to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
