A catastrophic late-night highway disaster unfolded in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district on Monday, claiming the lives of four passengers and leaving three others severely injured after a high-speed dumper slammed into an SUV. The deadly collision occurred along Laksar Road under the jurisdiction of the Purkaji police station. The impact was violent enough to reduce the sport utility vehicle to twisted metal, trapping all seven occupants inside. Responding emergency personnel had to deploy heavy hydra cranes to pry open the crushed vehicle body and extract the victims before rushing them to medical facilities.
Late-Night Impact Along Laksar Road
According to police details regarding the sequence of events, the incident occurred at around 10:15 PM on Monday night. A Scorpio-N bearing registration plate UK 16 G 0005 was traveling from the direction of Laksar when an oncoming heavy commercial dumper registered as UK 17 CA 8485 struck its side with tremendous force. The side-impact impact crushed the passenger compartment, instantly killing the driver, identified as approximately 50-year-old Aadesh Kumar, alongside roughly 35-year-old Nisha at the scene itself.
Hospital Toll Rises to Four as Minors and Elders Suffer Severe Injuries
The sport utility vehicle was transporting seven people when tragedy struck. Beyond the immediate fatalities at the site, five other passengers sustained critical injuries during the collision: 48-year-old Rakhi, 11-year-old Goni, 70-year-old Kusum, 48-year-old Ruby, and 7-year-old Vaishnavi. Emergency responders transported all injured passengers directly to the hospital for emergency care. Despite medical interventions, Nisha and 11-year-old Goni succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment, taking the overall death toll to four. The remaining three victims continue to receive specialized treatment for severe trauma.
Top Officials Inspect Crash Site and Custody Established
The gravity of the crash prompted rapid mobilization across district law enforcement. Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Verma, accompanied by Superintendent of Police City Amrit Jain, Superintendent of Police Traffic Atul Kumar Choubey, and Circle Officer Sadar Sunil Kumar, visited the crash site to supervise the rescue response. Officials surveyed the wreckage and directed hospital staff to ensure the best possible medical attention for the survivors. Law enforcement authorities took the dumper into possession and placed its driver in custody. Families of the deceased and injured were notified, statutory legal proceedings have been initiated, and local public order remains calm.
