Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) President and Union Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary launched a detailed political counter-attack against Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav during his visit to Baghpat. While inaugurating a new library at Gandhi Vidyalaya Inter College in Khekra, Jayant Chaudhary addressed several pressing topics, including political decorum, election alliances, and agricultural policy. He noted that while allegations and counter-allegations are standard during election periods, the general public fully comprehends political realities and evaluates leaders accordingly.
Jayant Chaudhary Responds to Akhilesh Yadav's 'Chavanni' Remark
Addressing the 'chavanni' (small coin) jibe made by Akhilesh Yadav, Jayant Chaudhary stated that he has no personal objection if the SP leader chooses to target him individually. However, he emphasized that if an entire community or section of society is targeted for political leverage, he will not remain silent and will raise sharp questions. Jayant explained that Akhilesh had been making indirect jabs at him for some time, which was why he initially refrained from issuing a public response.
Questioning Akhilesh Yadav's remarks about public awareness, Jayant asked which specific community was being accused of lacking political acumen. He raised a fundamental philosophical question regarding the relationship between political entities and society: Does a political party shape society, or is a political party born out of society? Jayant asserted that every political organization is created by society itself, adding that no political party possesses the stature or authority to claim it constructs society.
Political Decorum, NDA Seat Allocation, and Supreme Court Ruling on UGC
When asked about posters featuring Akhilesh Yadav that had recently surfaced, the RLD chief clarified that he was unaware of who installed them or for what purpose. He urged his party workers to maintain strict discipline and patience, reminding everyone that political discourse must never breach the 'Laxman Rekha' of mutual respect and boundaries.
Responding to Akhilesh Yadav's remarks regarding RLD securing more seats within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Jayant offered a sarcastic retort, asking whether RLD should delegate Akhilesh himself to advocate on their behalf for seat allocations. On the UGC matter, Jayant pointed out that the Supreme Court of India had issued a stay order on the issue, which is being strictly respected and implemented. He also referenced his recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sharing that their discussion focused on connecting future generations with the ideals, principles, and legacy of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh.
Sugarcane Season, Sugar Prices, and Criticism of Opposition Stance
Jayant Chaudhary forcefully criticized the opposition's stance on rising sugar prices as the new sugarcane crushing season approaches. He highlighted that sugarcane cultivation and the hard work of farming households bring prosperity and sweetness to homes across the region. He emphasized that financial gains from the sugar sector benefit not only farmers but also sugar mill workers, industrial laborers, and the broader agricultural supply chain.
Expressing disappointment over the opposition's messaging, Jayant remarked that it is unfortunate for political leaders in opposition to remain out of touch with farmers' genuine economic needs. He noted that instead of demanding higher, remunerative prices for sugarcane growers, the opposition appears more concerned with complaining about the rising cost of sweets like 'rasgulla'.
