A trivial dispute over a glass of water escalated into a devastating tragedy in Kanpur, leaving a young family shattered. In the Ahirwan area under the Kanpur region, a bitter verbal altercation between a husband and wife took a violent turn when the husband allegedly hurled a heavy wooden plank at his wife's head. The brutal blow caused severe injuries, resulting in the tragic death of the 23-year-old woman. The incident has left their three-year-old son and one-month-old daughter motherless, plunging the entire household into profound grief.
The deceased woman has been identified as Rita Paswan, who originally hailed as a native of Asothar in Fatehpur district. In the year 2022, she entered into a love marriage with 28-year-old Karan Paswan, a resident of Ahirwan. According to family members, Karan works as a painter and had just returned home from work on Saturday evening.
Dispute Ignited Over Request For Water
The incident unfolded on Sunday at around 11:30 AM when Karan asked his wife for drinking water after finishing his meal. This seemingly ordinary request quickly spiraled into a heated argument between the couple. It is alleged that in a fit of rage, Karan picked up a wooden plank and threw it directly at Rita, striking her squarely on the head. Family members rushed the grievously injured woman to a private hospital, but attending doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival.
Innocent Children Unaware of Tragedy
Rita leaves behind a three-year-old son named Kartik and a mere one-month-old daughter named Kavya, both of whom are now deprived of maternal care. The household is engulfed in mourning following the shocking turn of events. Relatives recounted that Rita had first met Karan in 2021 when she visited her maternal uncle's house in Ahirwan. Their initial acquaintance blossomed into a romantic relationship, leading to their marriage the following year.
Police Investigation and Custody of the Accused
Upon receiving information about the incident, local police promptly arrived at the scene, took the body into custody, and sent it for a post-mortem examination. According to Chakeri Station House Officer Ajay Prakash Mishra, the accused husband has been taken into police custody and is currently being interrogated. Further legal action will be initiated once formal written complaints are submitted by the grieving relatives, while law enforcement authorities continue their thorough investigation into the matter.
