A shocking breakthrough has emerged in the high-profile murder case of prominent medicine trader Vineet Minocha in Kanpur, where investigators uncovered a chilling conspiracy hatched within the family rather than by outsiders. Police revealed that the businessman's own daughter-in-law orchestrated his killing after growing resentful of the restrictions placed on her daily expenses and movements.
The Crime Scene at Ratan Orbit Apartment
The incident took place inside flat C-104 at Ratan Orbit Apartment in the Kalyanpur area of Kanpur. Vineet Minocha operated a firm named Pharma Traders located on Birhana Road, generating an annual turnover between 40 to 50 crore rupees. On a Saturday night, while Vineet was alone at home, he was attacked and killed. Around 3 AM on Sunday, his son Subrat, daughter-in-law Shalu, and their six-year-old child returned home to find Vineet lying in a pool of blood inside the bedroom. The room showed signs of a struggle, and post-mortem examination reports confirmed he sustained approximately 26 stab wounds.
The Six Lakh Rupee Contract Killing
Police investigation revealed that Shalu planned the murder because she was unhappy with the limitations imposed on her lifestyle and spending habits. Driven by this anger, she allegedly contracted her former servant, Vishal Gautam, offering him six lakh rupees to eliminate her father-in-law. Vishal enlisted his associate Raj किशोर to execute the plan. Using a duplicate key, the two perpetrators entered the flat and attacked Vineet with knives.
Bypassing Security with Deception
Before the attack, Vishal and Raj Kishore arrived at Ratan Orbit Apartment but were initially stopped by the security guard stationed at the main gate. The two men then contacted Shalu over the phone. According to investigators, Shalu instructed the guard to let them through, claiming they brought medicines. The pair then made their way up to the flat. Shortly afterward, Shalu left the apartment with her husband Subrat and child, leaving Vineet completely alone. Investigators noted that nothing was stolen from the house, immediately ruling out robbery as a motive.
The Act of Deception and Digital Evidence
Following the crime, Shalu returned home the next morning and staged a dramatic display of grief to conceal her involvement. However, electronic evidence and police scrutiny quickly unraveled the fabricated narrative. Authorities examined CCTV footage from the building, visitor registers, and call detail records. With around 45 security personnel deployed in the complex and three guards at the main gate, police tracked movements from around 8:28 PM, successfully connecting the communication lines between Shalu and the hired attackers.
Encounter Arrests Lead to the Mastermind
Police apprehended Vishal Gautam and Raj Kishore around 8:15 PM on Sunday following an encounter. During interrogation, Vishal confessed that he carried out the murder at Shalu's behest in exchange for the promised money. Based on these disclosures, law enforcement subsequently arrested Shalu. DCP West Kasim Abdi confirmed the arrest of the daughter-in-law and her pivotal role in the conspiracy. Authorities are continuing their probe to uncover the exact timeline of the plot and determine if any other individuals were involved.
