A gruesome case has surfaced from the Zakir Colony area under Lohia Nagar police station in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district, where a brother allegedly shot his own sister dead on Saturday. Police say the shocking act stemmed from a dispute linked to a love affair.
An argument, a gunshot, then a hospital death
According to initial information, the brother and sister had a heated argument over an issue shortly before the incident. During or right after this quarrel, the accused allegedly shot his sister in the head. She collapsed at the spot with severe injuries and was rushed to hospital by family members, where she died during treatment. Neighbours who heard the sound of the gunshot rushed to the scene and immediately alerted the police. After the shooting, the accused brother, identified as Arish, fled the spot, but police later tracked him down and arrested him.
Police say every angle is being examined
As soon as the information reached them, Lohia Nagar police station personnel, senior officials and a forensic team reached the spot, gathered evidence from the scene and sent the body for a post mortem examination. Police's preliminary probe points to resentment over a love affair as the possible motive, but officials say the case is being scrutinised from every angle and the actual cause of the killing will only be confirmed once the investigation is complete. The arrested accused is now being interrogated by police, and the weapon used in the murder has also been recovered. Since this shocking incident, an atmosphere of fear has gripped Zakir Colony, with local residents left shaken.
