A catastrophic disaster was narrowly avoided in the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, on July 11, thanks to the heroic and swift intervention of the local traffic police department. A speeding commercial vehicle, classified as a DCM truck and loaded with highly flammable compressed natural gas (CNG) cylinders, collided heavily with a motorcycle in the Krishnanagar area. The impact was so severe that the two-wheeler became firmly wedged beneath the truck's front bumper. Instead of stopping the vehicle to assist the rider or assess the damage, the driver recklessly accelerated, dragging the trapped motorcycle along the road surface for several kilometers.
A High-Speed Threat and the Trail of Sparks
According to eyewitnesses present on the route, the friction of the metal motorcycle scraping against the asphalt road generated a continuous stream of violent sparks. With the truck carrying a full cargo of pressurized and highly volatile CNG gas cylinders, this friction presented an immediate, life-threatening hazard. A single spark reaching the cargo could have triggered a massive explosion, resulting in widespread destruction and potential casualties across the busy thoroughfare. Horrified by the scene, commuters traveling behind the vehicle immediately alerted the local police and traffic control authorities about the escalating crisis.

Night-shift in-charge Rajesh Kumar, along with police personnel Pushkal Singh and Mayank Singh, demonstrated exemplary courage and presence of mind. The police team pursued the speeding truck over a long distance, coordinating their movements to prevent any mishap. After a tense and difficult chase, they managed to establish a tactical blockade in the Daroga Kheda area, successfully forcing the truck, bearing registration number UP32 TN 9240, to a safe and complete halt.
