Anyone heading from Greater Noida to the Ganga Expressway will soon skip the long detour through Meerut. The Uttar Pradesh government has drawn up a plan to link Greater Noida directly to the expressway that connects the state's eastern and western regions, promising to bring travel time down to within 30 minutes. Behind the plan is the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), which has laid out a broader roadmap to smoothen the movement of both freight and passengers across the city.
A 105-metre-wide road up to Hapur Bypass
To improve connectivity with the Ganga Expressway, GNIDA has proposed building a 105-metre-wide road stretching up to the Hapur Bypass. The proposal was discussed at a meeting in Lucknow chaired by Uttar Pradesh's Industrial Development Minister, Nand Gopal Gupta, where authority officials presented the full plan. According to officials, the new road will cut the travel time between Noida-Greater Noida and the Ganga Expressway by roughly 30 to 45 minutes. The existing connectivity will also be extended by close to 15 kilometres, giving Greater Noida a direct link to the expressway. The biggest beneficiaries will be commuters who regularly travel from Noida and Greater Noida to the Ganga Expressway and currently have to go the long way round via Meerut.
A 6-lane elevated road to Jewar airport
The authority's plan doesn't stop at the Ganga Expressway. It has also proposed a 6-lane elevated road connecting the Multi Modal Logistics Hub (MMLH) to the Noida International Airport at Jewar. This road will run parallel to the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, which is being built specifically for freight movement, and will connect straight to the Jewar airport. The idea is to let goods arriving at the logistics hub move directly to the air cargo terminal without interruption, making freight movement considerably faster and simpler.
Two major projects coming up in Greater Noida
Under this plan, two major projects will take shape in Greater Noida: the Multi Modal Logistics Hub (MMLH) and the Multi Modal Transport Hub (MMTH). Together, these are expected to ease freight movement while also improving connectivity between the logistics hub and the airport. The authority says the entire proposal is part of a larger plan to amend the Greater Noida Master Plan 2041, aimed at separating freight traffic from passenger movement so that congestion caused by mixing the two can be reduced.
Work on airport-to-expressway link to begin soon
The Greater Noida authority has stated in its proposal that work on improving connectivity between Jewar airport and the Ganga Expressway will begin soon. This will not only make it easier to travel from the airport to the expressway, it will also strengthen the link between Greater Noida, Noida and other major cities nearby. The government's intent is clear: it wants to connect Greater Noida to the Ganga Expressway and other major NCR cities within 30 minutes.
