A minor disagreement between children in Pandiya village, located under the Kundarki police station area in Moradabad district, Uttar Pradesh, escalated into a major violent conflict between two families. The violent clash, which involved heavy wooden sticks, bricks, and continuous stone-pelting from rooftops, left more than 10 people wounded and bleeding across two separate rounds of violence. Social media platforms were flooded with footage showing armed men engaging in open brawls and raining stones from roofs, prompting police deployment in the area.
How a Minor Argument Escalated Into Open Violence
The trouble began when children from neighbouring households got into a petty verbal dispute in Pandiya village. Rather than defusing the situation, adult members from both families intervened, turning a minor quarrel into a full-scale assault. According to police complaints, a group comprising Anwar, Abrar, Rashid, Ashfaq, and several of their associates forcibly raided the house of Mushahid. The confrontation quickly turned physical as both sides attacked each other with sticks and stones.
In the initial flurry of violence, several residents sustained serious injuries. Among those critically hurt were Mushahid, Parveen, and Sabri. Furthermore, a local resident who attempted to step in as a peacemaker to separate the fighting factions was also violently assaulted and severely injured. Initial reports indicated that at least five individuals were hurt during the first round of fighting, leaving the immediate neighbourhood in distress.
Temporary Night Truce and Morning Relapse
Upon receiving urgent reports regarding the outbreak of violence late at night, a police team arrived in Pandiya village to assess the situation. Officers intervened directly, speaking with elders and key members of both groups to calm tempers. Following police mediation, both factions agreed to cease hostilities for the night, giving residents the impression that the dispute had been resolved peacefully.
However, the apparent calm proved fleeting. On the following morning, representatives from both sides assembled to discuss a formal settlement and settle their differences permanently. During these compromise discussions, fresh arguments flared up over the previous night's attack. The verbal altercation quickly degenerated into physical aggression, throwing the village back into severe unrest.
Rooftop Stone-Pelting Causes Hour-Long Chaos
As emotions ran high during the morning arguments, members of both groups scrambled onto the rooftops of their respective houses. For nearly an hour, the village witnessed intense stone-pelting as individuals hurled bricks and heavy stones at each other from elevated positions. The heavy bombardment created widespread panic and chaos across the locality, forcing neutral villagers to lock themselves inside their homes for safety.
Eyewitnesses captured the violent scenes on mobile cameras, generating live video footage that rapidly went viral across social media. The video clips clearly depict groups of young men brandishing lathis on the streets and standing on rooftops throwing bricks continuously at neighbouring structures. The sustained confrontation resulted in multiple fresh injuries on both sides.
Police Deployment and Ongoing Legal Investigation
Following the widespread violence, both factions approached the local police station and submitted written complaints seeking formal legal action against each other. In total, more than 10 individuals suffered injuries of varying severity throughout the two incidents and received medical attention. To prevent further retaliation and maintain public safety, continuous police patrols have been instituted in Pandiya village.
Authorities confirmed that the situation in the village remains under control, though an atmosphere of underlying tension persists. Investigators are currently scrutinising the viral video clips alongside the written complaints to identify all perpetrators involved in the rooftop stone-pelting and physical assaults. Strict legal measures and formal cases are being prepared against all those responsible for disturbing public peace.
