The village of Pipouri has borne the brunt of the rising water levels, becoming completely submerged and surrounded by vast expanses of water. With floodwaters breaching domestic dwellings, local inhabitants face an immediate crisis regarding their safety and shelter.
Administration and NDRF Stepped In
Confronted with the escalating disaster, the District Magistrate personally arrived at the scene to oversee rescue operations alongside specialized disaster response teams. Operating via boats, the relief personnel navigated through flooded streets to extract trapped citizens, prioritizing the evacuation of children, the elderly, and women from vulnerable homesteads.
Door-to-Door Evacuation Efforts
The rapid inundation left numerous households marooned inside their properties in Pipouri. Personnel utilized boats to conduct thorough checks across the locality, successfully rescuing residents from approximately 30 to 40 houses so far. The ongoing operation has reached roughly 50 dwellings, relocating families to elevated and secure zones while panic grips villagers forced to abandon their belongings.
Surrounding Areas Affected
The flooding is not confined to Pipouri alone, as waters have advanced into adjacent neighborhoods including Meharban Singh ka Purwa, Mardanpur, and Mayapuram. Authorities estimate that over 1,000 families are currently affected across these zones. Furthermore, agricultural tracts have gone underwater, threatening extensive crop damage alongside the residential crisis.

In response to the expanding crisis, local authorities have intensified surveillance and maintained emergency response units on high alert. Officials have strongly urged residents to steer clear of submerged bridges, flooded roads, and swift currents. The primary objective remains the safe extraction of all stranded individuals as river levels continue to pose a major challenge to the rural belts of Kanpur.
