The police in the Tronica City station area of Ghaziabad district, Uttar Pradesh, apprehended two wanted suspects in a rape case following a brief shootout. According to law enforcement officials, both individuals sustained gunshot wounds to their legs during the encounter and were subsequently shifted to a hospital for medical treatment in an injured condition. Authorities also recovered illicit firearms and a stolen scooter from their possession.
Police checking near Khanpur jungle
On the night of the incident, the Tronica City police team was conducting vehicle checks near the Khanpur jungle area in search of the suspects wanted in connection with the rape case. During this routine operation, two individuals riding a scooter were spotted moving suspiciously. When police personnel signaled them to halt, the duo attempted to flee rather than stopping their vehicle.
Retaliatory firing during escape attempt
As they tried to escape, the two suspects opened fire on the police team. In self-defense, the officers retaliated with counter-firing. During the exchange, both suspects were struck in the legs by police bullets, allowing officers to overpower them and dispatch them to a medical facility for treatment.
Identification and seized items
The arrested individuals have been identified as Gulzar and Ehsan. Police records indicate that 20-year-old Gulzar is the son of Mustak, while 22-year-old Ehsan is the son of Kallu alias Nadeem. Both reside near the grand mosque in the Sudhir Enclave of Rampark. During a search, authorities recovered two illegal country-made pistols, two empty cartridge shells, and two live cartridges from them. Furthermore, the scooter found in their possession was established to be stolen. Legal proceedings regarding the encounter and recoveries have commenced, and further investigation is underway.
Cattle slaughter encounter in Mawana, Meerut
In a related development prior to this incident, police in Meerut district's Mawana area confronted suspects involved in preparations for cattle slaughter near a sugarcane field along the Ataura road canal bank. Acting on a tip-off from an informant, the Mawana police station team surrounded the field where two individuals were present with a calf. When officers instructed them to surrender, the suspects opened fire.
One arrested and one flees in Meerut operation
During the police counter-action, an accused named Bilal sustained a bullet injury to his leg. Bilal, the son of Riyazuddin alias Riyaju, resides in the Kalyan Singh locality of Mawana and was rushed to the Mawana Community Health Center for treatment. Meanwhile, his accomplice, Bhura alias Javed, managed to escape under the cover of darkness and the dense sugarcane crop. Authorities recovered a live calf, an illegal.315 bore firearm, one live cartridge, one spent shell, and slaughter equipment including two knives, an iron rod, and a cleaver from the site.
