Police in Uttar Pradesh launched targeted operations against criminal elements on September 1, leading to two separate encounter incidents in Jalaun and Kaushambi districts. In Jalaun, law enforcement personnel apprehended a criminal involved in snatching a woman's mangalsutra during the festival of Rakshabandhan. Simultaneously, in Kaushambi district, officers arrested Naushad, an accused linked to a major blast at a firecracker factory that occurred earlier the same morning. In both incidents, the suspects opened fire on police teams when confronted, prompting retaliatory fire from officers. Both criminals sustained gunshot injuries to their legs during the exchanges and were subsequently taken into custody and transported to government medical facilities for treatment.
Jalaun Encounter: Cordon and Exchange of Fire
The incident in Jalaun originated during the Rakshabandhan festival, when a criminal targeted a woman in a crowded market area and snatched her mangalsutra. Taking advantage of the dense crowd present at the market, the suspect managed to flee the spot. Following the crime, a formal case was registered at Orai Kotwali, and dedicated police teams were formed to track down the fleeing offender. On September 1, law enforcement received a specific tip-off from an informant regarding the suspect's presence near the Factory Chowki area.
Acting on the intelligence input, police established a security cordon around the Factory Chowki location. Upon realizing that he was surrounded by officers, the suspect attempted to escape and fired at the police party. Police officers immediately returned fire in self-defense. Reports indicate that a total of two rounds were exchanged between the police and the criminal during the confrontation. The suspect was struck in the leg by retaliatory police fire, effectively disabling him, after which officers immediately secured his arrest.
Seizures and Medical Treatment in Orai
Following the encounter in Jalaun, police recovered a country-made pistol and a motorcycle from the suspect's possession at the scene. The injured criminal was rushed to the District Hospital in Orai for necessary medical care. Providing details of the operation, the Additional Superintendent of Police confirmed that the police team acted upon precise informant input and encircled the area before the suspect initiated gunfire. Authorities are currently examining the criminal background of the accused, while further legal proceedings regarding the seized motorcycle and illegal firearm are underway.
Kaushambi Encounter: Firecracker Blast Accused Arrested
In a separate operation conducted on the same day in Kaushambi district, police engaged another suspect following a high-profile incident. On the morning of September 1, a severe blast occurred at a local firecracker factory, triggering an immediate police investigation. Authorities identified Naushad as an accused in connection with the explosion and initiated a search to locate him. Police tracked his presence to the highway area near Terah Mile village under the jurisdiction of the Charwa police station.
When police officers attempted to intercept and stop Naushad, he attempted to evade arrest and opened fire on the police team. Officers responded with defensive firing, hitting Naushad in the leg. The wounded suspect was immediately neutralized, taken into police custody, and admitted to a medical facility for treatment. According to police statements, Naushad was actively trying to abscond from the district when officers intervened and intercepted him.
