A police sub-inspector was killed on Sunday afternoon on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, in an accident that has left his family shattered. Sub-inspector Rajendra Singh, newly assigned to the security detail of BJP MLA Rajesh Chaudhary, was fatally injured when a dumper truck travelling in the wrong direction rammed into the MLA's escort vehicle. Every police officer in the escort was hurt in the impact, and Singh later died at the hospital. The tragedy deepens with one cruel detail: Sunday was his very first day on this security duty.
Wrong-Way Dumper Strikes Near Milestone 33
The crash happened near milestone 33 on the Yamuna Expressway, within the Jewar police station area. MLA Rajesh Chaudhary was on his way to Jewar Airport at the time. A dumper truck coming from the opposite direction slammed into the escort vehicle accompanying him with such force that the vehicle was badly damaged. Not a single police officer inside the escort escaped without injury. All the injured personnel were taken first to the district hospital and then to Kailash Hospital in Noida for treatment, where sub-inspector Rajendra Singh could not be saved despite medical efforts.
A Resident of Etah, Weeks Away from Retirement
Rajendra Singh was a resident of Etah district. He was set to retire on July 31, meaning his service was just a few weeks from its natural end. He had recently been posted to MLA Rajesh Chaudhary's security team, and Sunday was his first time reporting for this particular assignment. When news of his death reached home, his family was overwhelmed with shock and grief.

BJP MLA Rajesh Chaudhary emerged from the accident unharmed. He expressed deep sorrow over the death of sub-inspector Rajendra Singh. Police teams arrived at the scene promptly, took the dumper truck into custody, and launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
DCP Ravi Shankar Nimm Briefs on Recovery Efforts
DCP Ravi Shankar Nimm told reporters that both damaged vehicles were removed from the expressway using cranes, after which traffic was restored to normal. He said the case is being probed with all angles under consideration. The body of sub-inspector Rajendra Singh has been sent for post-mortem examination, and senior officials have been fully briefed about the incident.
