In a major crackdown on drug trafficking in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district, a joint team from the Agra Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and the local Highway Police Station intercepted an inter-district smuggling attempt. Acting on precise intelligence, law enforcement officers apprehended two suspects red-handed in possession of approximately 1 kilogram of high-grade heroin. The confiscated contraband carries an estimated international market value of around Rs 2 crore. The swift operation has triggered panic among illicit narcotics dealers operating across the region.
Intelligence-Led Ambush Near Mandi Area
Elaborating on the operation, law enforcement authorities revealed that the Agra ANTF unit and Highway Police had obtained specific confidential inputs regarding contraband movement. The tip-off indicated that two individuals mounted on a scooty were carrying a massive narcotics consignment into Mathura's jurisdiction. In response, joint teams deployed strategic checkpoints near the Mandi area under the Highway Police Station limits to conduct thorough inspections. As soon as the two-wheeler approached the designated zone, waiting police personnel surrounded and detained the suspects before they could evade capture.
Consignment Sourced From Kasganj, Suspects Belong to Aligarh
A detailed search of the suspects yielded 1 kg of pure heroin valued at Rs 2 crore, leading to the immediate confiscation of the drug-carrying scooty. The arrested individuals were identified as Imran and Shahbaz, residents of the Uperkot police station area in Aligarh district. Preliminary inquiries indicate that both men had been actively involved in inter-district drug trade networks for an extended period. During initial interrogation, the duo disclosed that they had procured the heroin consignment from Kasganj district and were en route to deliver it to local buyers in Mathura when security forces apprehended them.
NDPS Act Charges Filed as Investigation Probes Supply Chain
Following the interception, Highway Police lodged a formal case against both individuals under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police authorities have broadened their investigation to uncover every link in the drug ring. Security agencies are currently tracing both upstream suppliers in Kasganj and downstream receivers in Mathura, focusing on backward and forward connections to dismantle the entire illegal network.
