A violent altercation broke out in the Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh when a motorcycle rider and his family members allegedly assaulted an on-duty traffic police officer. The incident took place at Atal Chowk, located near the Numaish ground within the jurisdiction of the Kotwali police station. A traffic constable was managing movement at the intersection when he signaled a two-wheeler rider to pull over, leading to an argument that quickly turned physical and resulted in the arrest of three individuals.
Escalation from Atal Chowk to a Nearby Shop
According to official details, traffic constable Yaduvendra Kumar was posted at Atal Chowk to maintain smooth vehicle flow and enforce transport regulations. During his duty, a youth identified as Piyush Yadav, a resident of the nearby Gwaltoli village, rode past the junction on a motorcycle. Constable Kumar signaled him to stop, either for a routine check or due to a suspected traffic violation. However, Piyush chose not to halt immediately and instead rode a short distance away, stopping near a local grocery store.
Physical Clash and Damaged Uniform
Constable Kumar pursued the rider to the shop to inquire why he had ignored the signal. An argument erupted between the two men, which rapidly escalated into severe brawl. During the tussle, Constable Kumar sustained bodily injuries, and his official uniform was torn. The accused motorist, Piyush Yadav, also reportedly showed visible marks of physical struggle and injuries following the confrontation.
Family Arrives at the Scene Amid Growing Tension
As news of the fight spread, Piyush’s father, Gajraj Yadav, and his brother, Vivek Yadav, arrived at the spot. Their arrival exacerbated the situation, creating a chaotic and tense atmosphere as a crowd of local bystanders gathered around the scene. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, witnesses informed the authorities, prompting the Civil Line outpost in-charge, Dinesh Kumar, to rush to the location accompanied by a police force.
Police Detain Three Family Members
Upon arrival, Sub-Inspector Dinesh Kumar and his team brought the situation under control. The officers immediately detained Piyush Yadav along with his father Gajraj Yadav and brother Vivek Yadav. All three individuals were taken into custody and transported to the police station for further questioning and legal proceedings.
Case Registered Following Official Complaint
Taking strict note of the attack on a uniformed officer, Kotwali station in-charge Fateh Bahadur Bhadouriya stated that violence against on-duty public servants would face severe legal consequences. Based on a written complaint submitted by Constable Yaduvendra Kumar, a case has been formally registered against the trio under relevant statutory provisions, and steps were initiated to send them to judicial custody.
