A tragic incident unfolded in the Budaun district of Uttar Pradesh when a large DJ sound system mounted on a tractor-trolley accidentally came into contact with an overhead high-tension electricity line. The collision instantly surged heavy electric current through the entire metal trolley, causing a sudden explosion and fire. A young man lost his life on the spot, while seven children sustained burn injuries during the chaotic accident.
Devotees Were On Their Way To Kachhla Ganga Ghat
The incident occurred in Gauramai village, located within the jurisdiction of the Kaderchowk police station in Budaun. A group of local Kanwar Yatra devotees was preparing to march toward the Kachhla Ganga Ghat to collect holy water. To celebrate the occasion, they had outfitted a tractor-trolley with a powerful DJ loudspeaker set up. Prior to their departure, several young children and villagers from the neighborhood had climbed onto the vehicle, dancing enthusiastically to music playing through the sound system.
Tragic Moment Captured On Mobile Camera
As the festivities were underway, an onlooker was recording a video of the dancing children on a mobile phone. The footage captured the precise moment the top structure of the DJ loudspeaker touched the exposed high-tension power line overhead. A massive spark erupted instantly with a loud bang, followed by visible flames shooting up from the trolley. Electric current surged through the frame, knocking several people and children off the vehicle onto the ground in absolute panic.
Casualties And Treatment At District Hospital
The severe electric shock resulted in the immediate death of a local resident identified as Rohit Kumar. Additionally, seven children who were on or near the trolley suffered burn injuries. Villagers quickly organized transportation to carry the injured children to the nearby district hospital. Medical authorities administering emergency care confirmed that all seven hospitalized children are stable and out of immediate danger.
Official Police Response And Investigation
Police officers arrived at the scene shortly after receiving information about the tragedy to secure the area. Providing an official statement regarding the mishap, City SP Abhishek Singh stated that electric current spreading from the DJ generator setup in Gauramai village under the Kaderchowk police station area caused injuries to several individuals. He confirmed that the children admitted to the hospital are recovering well and declared safe. The officer further added that one young man, Rohit Kumar, died in the accident, and his body has been sent for a formal post-mortem examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
