A devastating early morning road accident on the Bahraich-Gonda highway in Uttar Pradesh has claimed the life of a tractor driver and left eleven bus passengers injured. The head-on collision occurred within the jurisdiction of the Dehat Kotwali police station, specifically on the stretch connecting Bahraich and Chilwariya. The impact was extremely severe, completely shattering the front of both vehicles and triggering a massive rescue operation to pull victims from the wreckage.
Details of the Early Morning Highway Crash
The fatal incident unfolded around 5:00 AM on July 5 when a state-run roadways bus belonging to the Varanasi Cantt Depot was travelling from Gonda towards Bahraich. Near the Chilwariya region, the bus violently crashed into a tractor-trailer loaded with bags of cement that was moving ahead of it. The force of the impact was so intense that the heavy tractor-trailer overturned onto the road, trapping its operator underneath. Medical professionals at the local hospital subsequently declared the tractor driver dead upon arrival.
Rescue Efforts and Condition of the Injured
As chaotic scenes and screams for help filled the early morning air, local residents and authorities rushed to the spot to assist. Emergency responders arrived quickly and dispatched multiple ambulances to transport the injured passengers to the Bahraich Medical College Hospital. Out of the eleven individuals who sustained injuries, six people were discharged after receiving necessary first-aid treatment. Currently, five individuals remain admitted and are undergoing active medical care. Among those hospitalized, a woman is reported to be in critical condition, and doctors are closely monitoring her progress. The victims include several children and elderly individuals who were traveling on the passenger bus.

Following the notification of the tragedy, senior administrative and police officials arrived at the crash site to coordinate the rescue operations and restore traffic flow on the busy highway. District Magistrate Akshay Tripathi along with Police Superintendent Vishwajeet Shrivastava personally inspected the location to assess the situation and ensure that the injured were receiving the best possible medical care at the hospital. The police department has taken custody of the deceased tractor driver's body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. Traffic, which was briefly disrupted due to the scattered cement bags and overturned vehicles, was restored after cranes cleared the highway. A formal investigation has been launched to determine the precise sequence of events that led to this tragic crash.
