Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 84 development projects across the Chauri Chaura assembly constituency in Gorakhpur district, highlighted by the opening of a major railway overbridge. Addressing a large gathering during the event, the Chief Minister mounted a rigorous political offensive against previous regimes while delivering substantial commitments to rural communities facing crop losses from cyclones, excessive rainfall, and hailstorms.
Sharpened Critique on Law, Order, and Past Governance
Focusing on the historical state of law and order, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed sharp criticism toward the Samajwadi Party. He asserted that the primary record of the Samajwadi Party across its four tenures in power consisted of orchestrating 1500 riots throughout the state. According to him, those administrations patronized roughly 10 lakh criminals who engaged in district-wide extortion and posed persistent threats to the safety of local traders and women.
Drawing a direct contrast with his administration, he pointed out that the Bharatiya Janata Party government has provided 10 lakh government jobs to youth while systematically dismantling organized mafia networks across Uttar Pradesh. He stated that elements perturbed by actions against corrupt practices are now attempting to manufacture unrest on public streets against Prime Minister Modi. However, he described these agitations as an attack on the interests of the poor rather than merely political opposition. He characterized individuals orchestrating street disruption as anti-farmer, anti-women, and sympathetic to terrorism, separatism, and Naxalism, urging citizens to stand united against such forces.
Emphasizing his government's zero-tolerance security framework, he noted that previous eras were marred by unchecked harassment of women and blatant robberies targeting business owners. He reiterated that under current administrative protocols, anyone who threatens the dignity of women or targets commercial traders will face only two destinations: imprisonment or doom, with no third alternative available.
Chauri Chaura Historical Records and Political Legacies
Reflecting on political posturing by figures positioning themselves as national kingmakers, the Chief Minister cited lines by celebrated Hindi poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar regarding the neglect of historical truth amid transient glitter. He urged audiences to evaluate historical events through factual records rather than political claims, turning attention to the legacy of the Chauri Chaura incident.
He recalled that British colonial courts had sentenced 172 patriots to death by hanging following the events at Chauri Chaura. While noting that the Congress party consistently portrays Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru as a towering legal advocate for freedom, the Chief Minister remarked that when 172 individuals including farmers, laborers, and merchants faced capital punishment after February 4, 1922, Nehru was absent from their legal defense.
He underscored that it was Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya who took up their representation in court, arguing the legal defense with such resolve that he successfully saved 151 revolutionaries, laborers, farmers, traders, and young citizens from execution.
Bhopa Bazar Overbridge: Delivering Infrastructure Solutions
The Chief Minister specifically highlighted the completion of the railway overbridge near the Chauri Chaura martyrs' memorial as proof of responsive governance. Recalling conditions at Bhopa Bazar during his visit on February 4, 2022, he described how the railway track physically bifurcated the town, causing persistent traffic gridlocks that lasted for hours whenever gates closed. The resulting congestion on both sides created widespread disruption for commuters and daily trade.
During that period, Kamlesh Paswan had raised the urgent necessity of an overpass to alleviate the public hardship. The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction that an impressive flyover now operates near the memorial, facilitating smooth, continuous travel for local commuters and transforming what was once merely an idea into a tangible public asset.
Enhanced Compensation Package for Weather-Affected Agriculture
Addressing agricultural setbacks caused by unseasonal extreme weather, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced major relief measures for distressed cultivators. Evaluating earlier compensation distributions as insufficient given the extent of devastation caused by cyclones, excessive rain, and severe hailstorms, he confirmed that the double-engine government will formulate a brand-new financial package to offset the losses completely.
He instructed all district magistrates to accelerate thorough damage assessments across affected rural areas immediately. Reaffirming his administration's unwavering support for food-producing farmers, the Chief Minister stated that the updated financial aid will be released promptly once ground surveys establish final loss tallies. Details regarding the public event were subsequently shared by the Chief Minister on X.
