The Jaintia Students' Union (JSU) has escalated its push against alleged malpractices in the Grade-IV recruitment process by seeking high-level intervention from state authorities in Meghalaya. On Wednesday, representatives from the student organization formally delivered a representation to the Commissioner and Secretary of the Meghalaya Government's Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department, urging prompt administrative measures to safeguard the interests of job aspirants.
Demands for Exam Postponement and Independent Probe
With the Grade-IV written examination currently scheduled for August 29, the student body has insisted that the test be deferred immediately. The JSU has called for a time-bound, independent inquiry into the series of allegations raised by candidates before any further steps in the selection process are taken. Union leaders emphasized that bringing the issue directly to the state Personnel Department was essential to guarantee objective scrutiny and robust administrative oversight.
District-Level Representation and Previous Pending Results
The state-level delegation follows a representation submitted just a day earlier to the Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills in Jowai. That initial submission highlighted growing concerns over the conduct of the recruitment process managed by the District Selection Committee (DSC). In its latest memorandum, the JSU additionally urged state authorities to address the long-pending results from the previous Grade-IV recruitment cycle, emphasizing that total transparency and fairness must be restored to public hiring drives.
Warning of Protests and Legal Measures
Union officials noted that approaching the top state administration marks a decisive step in their campaign for recruitment accountability. The JSU issued a firm warning to state authorities, indicating that if the government fails to resolve the grievances within a stipulated timeframe, the organization will be compelled to launch democratic protests and initiate formal legal proceedings.
