West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari launched a sharp attack on the opposition during the state assembly session, stating that the by-election battle in Domkal or rather Rejinagar will be intensely contested. He remarked that it remains to be seen how those identifying with the saffron fold perform in the upcoming polls. Referring to the education bill tabled in the assembly, he questioned why there is so much uproar once the direction of the legislation is properly understood.
Allocation of 1300 Crore Rupees for Jadavpur University
The Chief Minister announced that approximately 1300 crore rupees will be provided to Jadavpur University jointly by the state and central authorities. He also touched upon the transfer policies concerning university teachers and educational staff. Notably, the Chief Minister had led a Saffron Honor March in South Kolkata, during which the main gates of the university were found shut as the rally approached the campus.
Transfer of Teachers and Staff Across 8 Universities
Suvendu Adhikari stated that teachers and educational staff from 8 established universities will be transferred, noting that transfer provisions exist in other states as well. He remarked that individuals who find administrative transfers unappealing or unnecessary are free to resign from their positions and become full-time activists carrying bags.
He further alleged that when new universities are established, these so-called intellectuals will be deployed there. He accused the so-called leftists of deliberately and selectively targeting those associated with the saffron ideology.
Strict Stance on Anti-National Slogans
Adopting a firm stance on provocative slogans, Adhikari asserted that if anyone talks about dividing the country, he will retaliate decisively. He warned that the law will be strictly enforced against any anti-national rhetoric that undermines public trust and security.
Governance and Five-Year Terms
Discussing the tenure of governance, he emphasized that elected governments serve a five-year term and advocated for the concept of 'one nation, one state' regarding administrative uniformity. He added that if anyone chooses to oppose this approach, the government will maintain its firm position.
Aliiah University and Support for the Education Bill
The Chief Minister also mentioned consolidating Aliiah University into a single unified location. Reaffirming his complete backing for the new education bill, he expressed total support for its implementation.
Action Over Burning of Monk's Portrait and Warnings on Stalls
Addressing the incident outside the Bhowanipore police station where certain individuals burned a portrait of a Hindu monk, Adhikari directed the police commissioner to ensure the immediate arrest of those involved. Concluding with a stern warning regarding communist organization stalls, he declared that if communists refuse to display 'Durga Puja' on their stalls, they will not be permitted to set them up.
