Donald Trump has once again made a bold claim about Iran, saying that tonight the biggest attack will be launched and Iran's entire territory will be seized. The statement comes amid escalating tension between the United States and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz. Trump claims Iran's military strength has been completely wiped out, with everything from its radar systems to its ships destroyed, and that no leadership remains in the country, which he says has pushed Iran onto the back foot.
Trump's Claim: Iran's Military Wiped Out In Four Months
Donald Trump said that just four months ago, Iran had the strongest military in the Middle East. According to him, Iran had 159 ships at the time, all of which are now underwater. He also said Iran had 230 aircraft, including attack planes, all of which have now been destroyed. Trump further claimed that Iran's formidable radar system has been completely wiped out, along with its powerful anti-aircraft system, which he says is no longer functional. He also claimed that Iran's entire leadership has been eliminated, meaning there is no one left to make decisions.
A Standoff Brewing Over The Strait Of Hormuz
The entire dispute centres on the Strait of Hormuz. The United States has said it will charge a 20 percent security fee on ships passing through Hormuz. The US has described itself as the Guardian of the Strait of Hormuz and has said it will impose a blockade on Iranian ports along with fresh restrictions on Iranian vessels. The US has gone as far as saying it will seize Iranian territory.
Iran, in turn, has given a clear response to the United States. Iran says it will not give up control of Hormuz and that it is, and will remain, the guardian of Hormuz. Iran has said it will not accept US interference in Hormuz, will maintain its control over it, and will give a befitting response to the United States.
Netanyahu Issues His Own Warning To Iran
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also issued a direct warning to Iran. He has vowed that if Iran attacks his country again, Israel will strike back forcefully. A video released by Benjamin Netanyahu's office shows him telling a conference, "I want to say to the leaders of Iran, if you attack us, do not expect things to remain calm." He added that the days when someone could attack Israel without facing a decisive response are now over.
