Air travel options for passengers flying out of Arunachal Pradesh are set to improve significantly this autumn. Beginning October 10, IndiGo will launch an expanded flight network from Itanagar, establishing direct aerial links to key commercial, political, and financial hubs across India. The expansion aims to offer hassle-free travel for residents, business travelers, and tourists moving between the state capital and distant metropolitan centers.
Direct Flight Destinations and Transit Connections
Under the proposed timetable, IndiGo intends to operate direct flights connecting Itanagar to major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad. In addition to these nonstop routes, the airline plans to enhance one-stop connectivity using Guwahati as an intermediary transit stop. Passengers traveling via Guwahati will gain smoother access to destinations such as Bhubaneswar, Lucknow, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Chennai, and Hyderabad. According to an airport official, aviation authorities are also evaluating one more destination to include in the flight schedule, though the final choice of city remains under discussion.

The upcoming network enhancement is anticipated to deliver substantial economic advantages for Arunachal Pradesh. By shortening travel times to key industrial and commercial centers, the improved flight schedule will make the state far more accessible to outside investors, commercial enterprises, and holidaymakers. Industry representatives have strongly backed the initiative. Tarh Nachung, president of the Arunachal Chamber of Commerce & Industries (ACCI), stated that the added services will enable Arunachal Pradesh to integrate more effectively into the national economic ecosystem. Nachung added that these new routes will reinforce the vital role of Donyi Polo Airport in handling increasing passenger volumes and driving long-term economic development across the state.
