A major infrastructure milestone has been achieved in Arunachal Pradesh with the successful charging and operationalization of the 132/33 KV Miao Substation. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein announced the development, emphasizing that connecting this critical asset to the power grid will substantially enhance the reliability and quality of electricity supply across eastern parts of the state.
Targeted Power Improvements in Changlang District
The commissioning of the 132/33 KV facility directly benefits multiple towns and habitations within Changlang district, notably Miao, Diyun, and Kharsang, alongside adjoining rural belts. Highlighting the importance of the project, Mein noted in a statement shared on his official X account that the successful charging represents a key step toward improving grid connectivity and delivering uninterrupted, high-quality electricity. He added that modernizing state power assets remains foundational for fostering regional economic growth and industrial development.
Collaborative Execution Across Key Agencies
The successful execution of the Miao substation project was accomplished through seamless inter-agency cooperation. Deputy Chief Minister Mein expressed appreciation for the synchronized efforts of central transmission utility POWERGRID, the Department of Power of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, the Changlang District Administration, the project execution agency, and local community stakeholders. Joint coordination between administrative bodies, technical teams, and residents proved essential in bringing the project to fruition.
Progress Under the Comprehensive Transmission Scheme
The Miao substation forms a crucial component of the state's broader Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening Transmission and Distribution. Designed to overhaul electrical infrastructure across Arunachal Pradesh, the scheme encompasses a total of 239 individual project elements. Outlining current progress, Mein stated, "With 96 out of 239 project elements under the Comprehensive Scheme now successfully charged, we are steadily moving towards a stronger and more reliable power network." The expanding transmission grid lays a solid foundation for long-term economic stability and community welfare throughout the region.
