Arunachal Pradesh MP Tapir Gao stated on Saturday that the concerns highlighted regarding alleged Chinese activities near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) demonstrate why warnings originating from grassroots public representatives and local communities must be treated with utmost seriousness.
His remarks emerged amidst a growing controversy surrounding alleged movements by the Chinese People's Liberation Army in the Taksing sector located within Arunachal Pradesh's Upper Subansiri district.
Official Stance From Government And Army
The Ministry of External Affairs stated that India monitors developments along its frontier regions with China with absolute seriousness, emphasizing that preserving peace and tranquility across the LAC remains a core priority.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army dismissed reports of any territorial incursion as unfounded, maintaining that claims of foreign troops occupying Indian ground or setting up camps inside the state lack factual backing. Chief Minister Pema Khandu stated that he would engage directly with both the local residents who voiced these allegations and the defense establishment to discuss the matter.
Parliamentary History And Territorial Stance
Reflecting on past events, Gao noted that he previously brought up concerns regarding foreign incursions during a parliamentary session in 2019, though he claimed those warnings were dismissed lightly at the time by critics who argued such statements could affect troop morale.
In a post shared on X, the parliamentarian asserted that Arunachal Pradesh forms an inseparable part of the nation and that national sovereignty over the territory is non-negotiable. Gao added that while the country remains dedicated to peace and diplomacy, it will never compromise on its territorial integrity.
Local Grievances And Beijing Response
The current dispute arose after the Nah Welfare Society, a body representing local inhabitants, alleged encroachment and operational activities by foreign troops close to the border in the Taksing region.
Concurrently, Beijing remarked that the overall situation along the bilateral border remains generally stable while opting to avoid specific comments regarding reports of heightened military movements close to the Arunachal Pradesh frontier.
