A major industrial investment is taking shape in Uttar Pradesh to accelerate clean mobility and domestic battery production. Maxvolt Energy Industries Limited is setting up a state-of-the-art battery manufacturing plant in Aligarh with a capital outlay of ₹700 crore. The strategic development is expected to provide substantial momentum to electric mobility and energy storage sectors across the region. Beyond strengthening the manufacturing framework, the venture will create significant avenues of employment for technical and industrial talent.
Phased Expansion on a Six-Acre Site
According to an official statement, the manufacturing unit of Maxvolt Energy will be spread across approximately six acres of land in Aligarh. Groundbreaking ceremonies for the industrial facility have already been conducted to commence foundational work. The project blueprint outlines a phased execution divided into two stages, aiming to achieve an annual production capacity of 10 GWh once fully functional. When combined with the output from the company's existing operating unit in Duhai, its total yearly manufacturing bandwidth is anticipated to touch roughly 12.5 GWh.
Comprehensive Battery Solutions Across Vehicle Categories
The manufacturing setup in Aligarh will cater to electric mobility applications as well as broader energy storage requirements. Its manufacturing assembly lines will churn out battery packs engineered for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheeler electric vehicles. Furthermore, dedicated production lines will be established to accommodate the specific technical configurations required by various original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). This localized capacity is poised to enhance the domestic supply chain for critical battery components, fostering broader industrial growth across the state's expanding clean transport sector.
Workforce Opportunities and Projected Revenue Potential
The venture holds considerable potential for local economic expansion through large-scale recruitment. Government projections suggest that the facility will generate between 1,500 and 2,000 direct manufacturing jobs. In addition, an estimated 7,500 to 10,000 indirect employment opportunities are expected to emerge in allied businesses, encompassing raw component supplies, logistics, engineering services, maintenance operations, and extended supply chains.
Once operating at optimal design parameters, the complex has the capacity to deliver an annual turnover exceeding ₹6,800 crore. Highlighting the broader industrial importance, Alok Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary for the Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department of Uttar Pradesh, noted that such large projects play an instrumental role in establishing a complete industrial ecosystem for battery and EV manufacturing in the state. He also disclosed that the state recorded the operationalization of a record 4,500 industrial units during the 2025-26 period.
