Employees across the country eagerly await the annual interest addition to their Provident Fund savings. The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has officially begun crediting interest into eligible accounts for the financial year 2025-26. The set interest rate for this period stands at 8.25 percent. While many account holders have already received SMS alerts confirming the credited amount, a large number of subscribers are still waiting for notification messages. If you have not yet received an alert on your phone, there is no need to worry or feel anxious about your funds. Instead of waiting indefinitely for an official text message, you can easily verify whether the interest has been added by checking your account balance yourself.
Checking PF Balance Online Via Official Portal
The most detailed way to track your account activity is through the official online web portal. Subscribers can view their complete transaction history and interest credits directly on epfindia.gov.in by following a few simple steps. First, visit the official portal at epfindia.gov.in and log in using your Universal Account Number (UAN), password, and the security captcha code shown on the screen. Once signed in, navigate to the e-Passbook section. Select your specific Member ID associated with your current or previous employer. After choosing the ID, your complete passbook will load on the screen, showing all monthly contributions alongside the recently added interest amount.
Using the Umang Mobile Application
For users who prefer managing their financial details on a smartphone, the government's Umang app offers a smooth alternative. Start by downloading the official Umang application on your mobile device. Open the app, locate the EPFO service tab, and select the Employee Centric Services option. From there, tap on the View Passbook facility. You will be prompted to enter your active UAN and password. A one-time password (OTP) will then be sent to your registered mobile number for authentication. Enter this OTP in the designated field to instantly access and review your complete PF balance and interest update on your phone screen.
Quick Verification Via Missed Call
If you do not have access to an internet connection or prefer an offline solution, EPFO provides a convenient missed call service. To utilize this feature, your primary mobile number must be registered with the EPFO database. Simply place a missed call to 9966044425 from your registered mobile number. The call will automatically disconnect after a couple of rings. Within a few moments, EPFO will send an automated SMS directly to your phone containing your latest account balance and recent transaction summary.
Checking Account Details Via SMS Service
Another quick offline option is sending a formatted text message from your mobile phone. As with the missed call facility, your phone number must be linked with your UAN in the official system. Send an SMS to 7738299899 in the standard format: EPFOHO UAN LAN, where LAN stands for your preferred language code. If you wish to receive the information in English, type ENG in place of LAN. For information in Hindi, replace LAN with HIN, followed by your actual UAN number. For example, to receive updates in Hindi, send EPFOHO UAN HIN to 7738299899. You will shortly receive a response message detailing your current PF account balance.
