A chilling incident from Bihar's West Champaran has left an entire region in shock. In Bhangaha village, under the Kumarbagh police station area, a father has been accused of throwing his own three young children and his wife into a flowing canal. All three children drowned, while the mother managed to save her own life by swimming out of the water. The accused father has been identified as Rambabu Yadav. Since the incident, a mix of grief and anger has gripped the entire area.
A Dispute, Then a Departure Before Dawn
Rambabu Yadav, son of Lorik Yadav of Bhangaha village, had quarrelled with his wife Lalita Devi over some matter on Monday night. Early on Tuesday, at around 3 am, he left home on a motorcycle with his wife and all three children. He had told his wife that he would drop her at her maternal home in Birwa village, which falls under the Majhaulia police station area. Trusting him, she got on the bike with the children.
A Horrifying Act Beside the Canal
The allegation is that after moving ahead from Lohiyaria Chowk, the moment the motorcycle reached the Barohiya canal near Chhavarhiya village, Rambabu first pushed his wife into the canal. He then threw all three children, one by one, into the flowing water. Lalita Devi somehow fought the current and managed to swim out, after which she went straight to her maternal home and told her relatives everything that had happened.
Three Bodies Recovered One After Another
On Tuesday morning, villagers spotted the body of a girl floating in the canal, pulled it out and immediately informed the police. The body could not be identified at first, so the police treated it as unidentified and sent it to GMCH for a postmortem. Panic spread through the area later in the afternoon when two more children's bodies surfaced in the same canal. Two of the bodies were recovered with the help of villagers, while one was retrieved by the police.
A Grieving Village and an Accused in Custody of In-Laws
The three dead children have been identified as the sons and daughters of Rambabu Yadav. After the incident, the accused was caught and held by members of his in-laws' family. The police are working to get to the bottom of the case and are questioning relatives as well as those who were present at the spot. The deaths of three small children from a single family have left the entire village in mourning, with people seething with anger against the accused father.
