A decades old dispute over a village road between relatives turned deadly in Bidupur, Vaishali district in Bihar, on Sunday, when an Army jawan and his father were shot dead. The killings triggered outrage in the area, and police launched raids across the region to track down the accused.
Widow says she wants the heads of all four accused
The jawan's wife said that just as her husband was killed, she wants the heads of all four men involved in the murder. She directly appealed to Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, demanding blood for blood. She also said that jungle raj has still not ended in the state, which is why her family had to witness such a day.
MP Pappu Yadav visits the grieving family
Member of Parliament Pappu Yadav visited the victim's family after the killings and handed over financial assistance of Rs 25,000. He said that as soon as Parliament reopens, he will meet Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to demand compensation and a job for the victim's family. Yadav also criticised the Bihar government over what he called a half encounter during the operation to catch the accused.
An old dispute that cost two lives
In the Bidupur area of Vaishali district, relatives sharing land had been locked in a long running dispute over a passage. The dispute turned violent on Sunday. During the exchange of fire, an Army jawan, who was at home on leave, and his father were shot dead on the spot. The double killing left the entire village in shock.
Accused injured in police encounter before arrest
A police team reached the Bidupur police station area on Sunday morning to arrest the man accused of the double murder. According to police, as soon as the team approached him, he opened fire, shooting two rounds at the police team. The bullets hit the police vehicle, though no policeman was injured in the attack. Police retaliated and shot the accused in both legs below the knee to bring him under control. The injured accused has been admitted to hospital for treatment. Police are now searching for the remaining accused in the case.
