Expressing severe indignation over the assault on the student, JDU MLA Anant Singh argued that society must deal ruthlessly with perpetrators of such brutal crimes. Delivering his remarks, Anant Singh stated, "Anyone who does such an act should be killed within a single day, and whoever carries it out will earn spiritual merit."
The legislator further asserted that dangerous offenders guilty of such misconduct forfeit their right to exist safely. Backing the aggressive police response, he remarked that shooting the prime accused in the leg was entirely necessary. He insisted that individuals committing sexual violence inevitably face fatal encounters, stressing that decisive and harsh punitive consequences serve as the only true deterrent against repeat offenses.
Police Encounter and Apprehension of Suspects
The law enforcement machinery initiated continuous pursuit immediately after footage of the incident surfaced publicly. Officers registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act after identifying 7 suspects linked to the recording. Dedicated police teams launched coordinated raids starting Monday to track down every individual involved in the crime.
Within the initial phase of the operation on Monday, authorities detained 3 suspects. Escalating the crackdown on Tuesday, police cornered prime accused Nandan Yadav in a half encounter, shooting him in the leg before taking him into custody. Another key participant, identified as Hareram Yadav, was also arrested after he sustained a knee injury while attempting to evade the police net. With these actions, the police have arrested 5 of the 7 named accused, while active search operations remain underway to locate the remaining 2 absconding individuals.
