A highly distressing incident of suspicious death involving a newly married woman has come to light from the Bagaha region of Bihar. Just two months after tying the knot, the young woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside her husband's home in Khatauri village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Ramnagar police station. The discovery of her lifeless body lying on a bed has sent shockwaves through the local community, while her grieving parents and relatives are left completely devastated. The victim's family has raised serious allegations against her husband and in-laws, accusing them of relentless dowry harassment and cold-blooded murder.
Tragedy Strikes Khatauri Village as Police Launch Probe
The tragic incident unfolded in the quiet village of Khatauri in Ramnagar on Friday morning, when news of the young bride's sudden demise spread rapidly. The local residents were left stunned by the unexpected development, and a crowd quickly gathered at the residence. Upon receiving information about the suspicious death, a team from the Ramnagar police station rushed to the spot to secure the area. The police officers took possession of the body and subsequently dispatched it to the hospital for a comprehensive post-mortem examination. The entire village remains tense as local authorities begin their initial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
Victim's Father Details Severe Dowry Harassment and Threats
The deceased woman has been identified as Priyanka Devi. Her father, Purnvasi Ram, has stepped forward with harrowing details of what his daughter allegedly endured before her untimely death. According to him, Priyanka Devi was married to Chandan Ram, a resident of Khatauri village, in April of this year. While the marriage seemed peaceful during the initial weeks, the situation deteriorated rapidly soon after. Purnvasi Ram alleged that his daughter was subjected to frequent physical and mental harassment over demands for additional dowry.
The grieving father stated that Chandan Ram and his family members kept pressuring Priyanka to demand more money from her paternal home. When she refused or expressed her family's inability to meet these escalating demands, she was allegedly subjected to severe physical assaults and constant death threats. The father has formally accused the in-laws of strangling Priyanka Devi to death on Thursday night, after which they allegedly placed her body back on the bed on Friday morning to make it look like a natural occurrence or suicide, in an attempt to destroy evidence.
Autopsy Report Crucial for Determining the Cause of Death
Addressing the ongoing investigation, Pankaj Singh, the acting station house officer of Ramnagar, stated that the law enforcement agency is treating the matter with utmost seriousness. He confirmed that the body has been sent for an autopsy, and the definitive cause of death will only be established once the medical experts submit their post-mortem report. The acting station house officer assured the victim's family and the public that a thorough and impartial inquiry is underway. He emphasized that if the medical reports or the police investigation point toward foul play, strict legal action will be initiated against everyone involved in the crime.
