A bus carrying wedding guests met with a tragic accident in Bihar's Saran district after it lost control on a speed breaker near Gandar in the Taraiya police station area and overturned into a roadside ditch. One wedding guest died in the accident, while seven others were injured.
How the accident happened
The passengers on board were reportedly returning from a wedding function. Near a speed breaker close to Gandar, the driver lost control of the bus, which veered off the road and flipped into a ditch on the side. The sudden crash threw passengers on top of one another, and several people were trapped under the bus.
Rescue effort
Rescue teams reached the spot soon after the accident was reported. A JCB machine was used to pull out the passengers trapped inside the overturned bus. The injured were rushed to the nearest hospital, where they are being treated under medical supervision. One guest could not be saved and died at the scene.
A pattern of road accidents in Saran
This is not the first such accident linked to wedding travel in Saran district. On 6 May 2026, a truck ran over an orchestra team returning from a wedding function in Chhapra, killing 4 people and injuring 6 others. Earlier, on 29 December 2025, a similar tragedy in the neighbouring Nawada district claimed the lives of a grandfather and grandson. These incidents point to a recurring pattern of fatal accidents on the district's rural roads during the wedding season, often linked to driver negligence at night.
What happens next
Police are investigating the accident to determine whether speeding or driver negligence caused the crash. The condition of the injured is being closely monitored.
