Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal and his long-time partner Gabriella Demetriades have officially registered their marriage in Goa. The 53-year-old actor completed the court marriage formalities alongside Demetriades on Friday afternoon at the Sub-Registrar office in Mapusa, located in the North Goa district. The ceremony was kept low-key, with only a few close friends attending the proceedings. The couple arrived at the registrar office around 4 PM wearing casual clothes to complete the legal paperwork.
Registration Under Goa Uniform Civil Code
Sub-Registrar Suraj Verneker confirmed that the marriage was registered under the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) applicable in the state of Goa. Demetriades is a South African national, and the couple currently resides in Socorro village near Panaji. Under local state regulations, there is a mandatory waiting period of 15 days between the first and second signing during marriage registration.
Special Exemption and Certificate Issuance
To obtain an exemption from the required 15-day waiting interval, the couple sought special approval from the Assistant Public Prosecutor of the local court. After obtaining the necessary permission, they completed the signing procedure on Friday. According to the registrar official, the formal marriage certificate will be issued to the couple after the completion of 15 days.
Six Years of Relationship and Two Sons
Arjun Rampal and Gabriella Demetriades have been in a live-in relationship since 2018. Over their six-year relationship, the couple welcomed two sons together. Their first son, Arik, was born in 2019, while their second son, Ariv, was born in 2025. Addressing questions about marriage on Ranveer Allahbadia's show, Rampal had previously shared his perspective, stating, "For both of us, marriage is just a piece of paper, and we already consider ourselves married."
First Marriage to Supermodel Mehr Jesia
Prior to his relationship with Demetriades, Arjun Rampal was married to former supermodel Mehr Jesia, who won the Femina Miss India title in 1986. The two met during their modeling careers and tied the knot in 1998. Jesia is two years older than Rampal. The former couple shares two daughters from their marriage. After remaining together for over two decades, Rampal and Jesia legally divorced in 2019.
