Baghel notes that one of the biggest advantages of this crop is its high resistance to common agricultural ailments, which drastically reduces the risk of crop failure and minimizes spending on expensive chemical treatments.
Step-by-Step Field Preparation and Planting
Achieving these results requires a systematic approach to field preparation and planting. Baghel explains that the process must begin by ploughing the agricultural field thoroughly at least twice. Following the initial ploughing, a rotavator should be run across the field to break up clods and ensure the soil is fine and well-aerated. The next crucial step involves creating raised beds and covering them with mulching sheets to retain moisture and control weeds.
For soil enrichment, a basal dose consisting primarily of traditional cow dung manure combined with DAP and Super can be applied. Spacing is critical for the healthy growth of the vines; the distance between the raised beds must be kept at more than one meter. Furthermore, a strict distance of two feet should be maintained between individual plants to prevent overcrowding and ensure proper nutrient uptake.
