Roshan Yadav, an 11th-grade student residing in Barima village of Surguja district in Chhattisgarh, has achieved a landmark success by clinching the gold medal in the state-level long jump championship. This triumph is the culmination of two dedicated years of continuous hard work and rigorous physical preparation on the field. By securing the top podium finish at the state level, Roshan has earned the privilege of representing his state at the upcoming national-level athletics competition in Delhi. Looking ahead, the young athlete harbors high ambitions, aiming to forge a full-time career in sports and represent India on the prestigious stage of the Olympic Games.
Two Years of Dedicated Practice and School Mentorship
Roshan attributes his state victory to two full years of structured training and unwavering perseverance. Recalling the beginnings of his athletic journey, Roshan shared that the Physical Training Instructor (PTI) at his school played a pivotal role by introducing him to long jump techniques and outlining the fundamentals of track training. Following this initial coaching, Roshan established a disciplined regimen that balanced his academic studies with daily practice. He continued refining his jumping form both at school and at home, benefiting immensely from the constant support and motivation provided by his school teachers.
Daily Fitness Regimen and Technical Discipline
To build the physical endurance required for high-level athletics, Roshan adheres to a strict daily training schedule. Every morning, he runs approximately 10 to 15 kilometers to strengthen his cardiovascular fitness and stamina. Alongside distance running, he continuously works on long jump mechanics, focusing on approach speed, board takeoff, and landing precision. This relentless focus on both fitness and technical execution proved decisive in earning him the state gold medal.
Agricultural Family Background and Strong Parental Support
Roshan hails from a modest rural family in Barima village, where his father works as a farmer to earn the family's livelihood through agriculture. Despite financial constraints, his parents have consistently acted as a strong support system throughout his athletic journey. Roshan noted that his father and mother have always stood by his side, continuously encouraging him to pursue his passion for sports without hesitation, which served as a major source of motivation for him.
Preparation for National Event in Delhi and Olympic Dreams
Following his stellar performance at the state competition, Roshan has been officially selected to compete at the national-level event in Delhi. Although the exact dates for the national competition are yet to be announced, Roshan has already intensified his preparation to ensure he delivers a peak performance. As an 11th-standard student, he views this national appearance as a vital milestone toward achieving his ultimate dream of competing at the Olympics and building a lifelong career in sports.
