A 16-year-old boy named Raman passed away at a medical facility after battling for his life for 11 days following a fall from the third floor of a house in Haryana. The tragic event took place in Deha Colony, located in the Shahabad area of Kurukshetra district. Following the teenager's demise on the night of August 25-26, angry family members and local residents staged demonstrations against the local police, alleging that two officers pushed the minor off the roof.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The incident originally occurred on the evening of August 14. According to statements given by the deceased's uncle Ashu, a resident of Ambala, he was sitting on the third floor of the residence alongside his brother-in-law Lakhan, who hails from Panchkula, and young Raman. During that time, Raman was seated on the boundary wall of the terrace. Unexpectedly, two police personnel reached the top floor of the house.
Ashu stated that the two arriving police officers pushed Raman from the wall without warning. The 16-year-old fell directly onto the adjacent neighbor's roof below, sustaining critical injuries across his body. When Ashu tried to inquire how the officers entered the house and reached the third floor, one of the officers allegedly pulled out a handgun. The policemen then forcibly escorted Ashu and Lakhan down to the ground floor before leaving the premises.
Medical Battle and Personal Background
Immediately after the fall, family members rushed the injured teenager to a medical facility. As his health condition worsened, he was transferred to Adesh Medical Hospital for advanced treatment. Raman fought for survival for nearly 11 days in the hospital before succumbing to his injuries during treatment on the night between August 25 and August 26.
Raman came from an underprivileged background and was the only son of his family, surviving alongside three sisters. His father, Reenu, had already passed away previously. To help support his household, Raman occasionally assisted his grandfather Jagdish in collecting waste and recyclable materials in the area.
Family Protests and Legal Demands
The news of the teenager's death sparked outrage in Deha Colony. Grieving relatives and neighbors gathered to protest against the police administration, accusing the authorities of attempting to cover up the incident. Family members alleged that police officers were coercing eyewitnesses to suppress evidence and withhold statements regarding the night of August 14.
The family demanded immediate strict legal action against the policemen involved in the incident. Protesting relatives warned local authorities that if prompt criminal proceedings are not initiated against the accused officers, they will block major roads and organize widespread public demonstrations.
Police Official Response
Responding to the serious allegations, Shahabad Police Station SHO Jagdish Tamak assured that a comprehensive investigation is currently underway. He stated that every aspect related to the incident is being thoroughly scrutinized to ensure a complete and fair inquiry. SHO Jagdish Tamak confirmed that if any police personnel or individual is found guilty during the probe, legal action will be taken strictly in accordance with the law.
