A truly baffling and unconventional domestic dispute has emerged from Mahmudabad in the Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh, drawing widespread attention and landing straight at the local police station. In this strange case, a married woman is insisting on living under the same roof with both her legal husband and her lover, creating an unprecedented situation that has left local residents and authorities completely stunned.
Marriage to Lover in Front of the Husband
The incident centers around Phulwaripur village within the Mahmudabad Kotwali jurisdiction. Shubham Verma, a resident of the village, was previously married to Anju Verma from Pachdevra, and the couple shares two children. Over time, Anju grew close to a man named Nitin Vishwakarma, who hails from Onera village. In an astonishing turn of events, Anju went ahead and married Nitin at a temple directly in front of her first husband Shubham.
The Unusual Stance of Husband and Wife
The situation came to light when Anju declared her intention to live with both Shubham and Nitin simultaneously. Surprisingly, Shubham raised no objection to the arrangement and stated that he is entirely willing to keep Nitin in the house alongside them. Shubham maintained that he refuses to part ways with either Anju or Nitin, going so far as to suggest he would leave his home if necessary. Meanwhile, Anju remains fiercely adamant about her decision to cohabit with both men.
Family Opposition and Police Intervention
According to family members, Nitin was a frequent visitor at Shubham's house and often stayed over. Shubham reportedly considers Nitin to be like a brother, and the two men have even been seen sharing meals together. However, other members of the extended family and in-laws strongly object to this unconventional lifestyle and have vehemently opposed Nitin staying with them. As tensions escalated within the household, the matter finally reached the Mahmudabad Kotwali on Friday, with Shubham, Anju, Nitin, and other relatives all arriving at the police station.
Lack of Consensus at the Police Station
A prolonged session of discussions and arguments ensued at the police station as authorities attempted to mediate. Station House Officer Bhanu Pratap Singh listened to all parties involved and tried to find an amicable solution to the deadlock. However, due to firm opposition from other family members, no final agreement could be reached. This incident follows other recent peculiar occurrences in Uttar Pradesh, such as a case in Sant Kabir Nagar where a husband arranged his wife's marriage to her boyfriend at a Shiva temple despite them having five children and a 21-year history together. In another separate controversy from Amroha, a viral video depicting the marriage of three sisters to a single groom turned out to be an online stunt staged merely to boost followers, prompting intervention from the Child Welfare Committee.
