Disciplinary action has been taken against ACP Manaswi Vashistha following an open protest staged alongside colleagues outside the Delhi Police Headquarters. Acting under direct instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the department placed the senior officer under immediate suspension. The administrative intervention comes amid simmering tensions sparked by an altercation between police personnel and lawyers in the capital.
Dispute Over Transfer Orders
The controversy began after departmental transfers targeted an ACP and an SHO in the wake of a clash with lawyers in the Shahdara area. Police personnel felt aggrieved by the decision, viewing the transfers as an unfair measure taken against officers on the ground. Frustration over the departmental response rapidly built up across the ranks, prompting personnel to voice their opposition openly.
Demonstration Outside Police Headquarters
On Monday, ACP Manaswi Vashistha and several fellow personnel gathered right outside the central headquarters to hold a demonstration. The gathering outside the apex administrative building quickly drew attention as video footage circulated widely. In response to the growing agitation, senior leadership alerted all district DCPs, directing them to manage their personnel and prevent further indiscipline across stations.
Disciplinary Action and Resolution Committee
While the Delhi Police Commissioner initiated steps to form a committee to resolve the dispute between lawyers and police officers, the central government took a firm view on protocol violations. Because uniformed officers organized an open demonstration at the headquarters, the Ministry of Home Affairs intervened directly and instructed the force to suspend Manaswi Vashistha pending further inquiries.
