Ahead of the massive demonstration planned in New Delhi on October 10, Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has taken a defiant stand against potential administrative crackdowns. Addressing a press briefing in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Dipke stated that while he anticipates being taken into custody, no punitive measure will derail the scheduled campaign. He affirmed that even if the authorities decide to jail him or invoke the stringent National Security Act (NSA), the agitation will press ahead undeterred.
Call for Peaceful Satyagraha Along Gandhian Lines
Directing his appeal to participating youth and volunteers, Dipke urged them to remember Mahatma Gandhi if the Delhi Police attempts to barricade or intercept their travel. He instructed supporters that wherever law enforcement stops them, they should transform that exact spot into Jantar Mantar and commence their demonstration right there. Emphasizing non-violence, he advised protesters to maintain peace and chant 'Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram' while continuing their resistance.
Charter of Demands and Resignation Ultimatum
The CJP leader asserted that the administration has grown apprehensive about the October 10 gathering, pointing out that intimidation tactics cannot suppress public dissent. He cautioned that if Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar does not tender his resignation, protest hubs resembling Jantar Mantar will emerge across the entire nation.
Dipke formally outlined the three cornerstone demands behind the planned demonstration
- The immediate resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar along with the initiation of criminal proceedings against him.
- An unconditional freeze on the ongoing SIR process.
- Comprehensive electoral reforms within the Election Commission of India to ensure all future appointments remain strictly neutral and fair.
Notices to Volunteers and Social Media Restrictions
Highlighting what he characterized as state harassment, Dipke revealed that law enforcement notices have already been served to campaign workers. According to him, two individuals in Maharashtra have received official notices, while a volunteer named Mukesh in Rajasthan was also served similar paperwork, with more expected in the coming days. Furthermore, he alleged that digital reach has been targeted, claiming content related to CJP is facing censorship and suppression on social media platforms, including Instagram, across India.
Scrutiny over Travel Expenses and Police Questioning
Reflecting on policing standards, Dipke noted that he had previously commended the Maharashtra Police for their cooperation during protests in Mumbai, ranking them among the country's finest forces. However, he expressed strong disapproval over recent inquiries into volunteers heading to the capital. He questioned why authorities are interrogating individuals traveling from Chandrapur in Maharashtra regarding their travel funding and mode of transport, asking whether citizens are now expected to account for routine train tickets priced between 1,000 and 1,500 rupees when police should be attending to more pressing duties.
