Two Sharp Shooters Linked to Overseas Gangsters Arrested in Delhi With Weapons After Failed Hit

The Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested two shooters linked to the Bambiha and Nandu gangs from the Bawana-Kanjhawala Road while they were planning to execute a targeted killing on orders from Canada.

In a major operational success against organized crime, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police has apprehended two dangerous sharp shooters linked to the notorious Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu gang and the Bambiha gang syndicate. The arrested suspects have been identified as 23 year old Harmanjeet Singh, a resident of Amritsar, Punjab, and 22 year old Harshdeep Singh alias Billa, residing in Ludhiana, Punjab. Both individuals were actively wanted by law enforcement for opening fire at a residence in the Chhawla area of Delhi and executing an intimidation firing incident outside a restaurant in Ludhiana. According to police officials, the duo operated under the direct instructions of Canada based gangster Devendra Singh alias Gopi Lahoriya and had arrived in the national capital to carry out a targeted assassination. Police recovered two illegal pistols and 7 live cartridges from their possession at the time of arrest.

Targeted Intelligence and Strategic Trap at Bajitpur Crossing

According to official details provided by DCP Sanjeev Yadav, the crackdown was initiated following actionable intelligence gathered by Inspector Maan Singh and Inspector Sundar Gautam. The specific information revealed that the two sharp shooters were traveling towards Delhi with the intention of executing a high-profile target. Acting swiftly on the intel, the Crime Branch team set up a tactical ambush near the Bajitpur Crossing bus stop along the Bawana-Kanjhawala Road. As soon as both suspects arrived at the location to carry out their assignment, waiting police personnel cornered and subdued them. A physical search yielded two sophisticated pistols along with 7 live rounds of ammunition.

During detailed custodial interrogation, the accused disclosed the broader conspiracy orchestrated from abroad. They confessed that Canada based operative Devendra Singh alias Gopi Lahoriya had assigned them the contract killing of an individual in Delhi. To ensure precise identification of the intended target, Lahoriya transmitted photographs directly to their mobile phones and promised a substantial financial payout upon completion of the hit. As part of the initial agreement, the shooters were provided an advance payment of Rs 30,000. Upon receiving the initial funds, the duo traveled to Delhi and established an operational base at a hotel in the Dwarka Mor locality.

Sequence of Events From Weapons Procurement to Intimidatory Firing

The interrogation further revealed a precise timeline of their movements across Delhi and Punjab. On August 15, the shooters collected two firearms and matching ammunition from a contact in East Delhi. On August 16, they tracked the target to a residential property in the Chhawla area. However, upon observing the presence of several family members inside the house, they aborted the direct shooting attempt. To terrorize the occupants, the suspects fired multiple shots at the residence before fleeing the location. On August 17, the duo traveled to Ludhiana, Punjab, where they conducted celebratory warning shots outside a local restaurant to create widespread panic in the area.

Return to Delhi for Incomplete Hit Interrupted by Police Action

Following the Ludhiana incident, on August 18 and 19, the suspects returned to Delhi under explicit directions from Gopi Lahoriya to finish the unexecuted contract in Chhawla. However, before they could carry out the murder attempt, the Crime Branch team intercepted and arrested them. Criminal background verification revealed that Harshdeep Singh alias Billa has a history of serious offenses including murder, charges under the NDPS Act, and Arms Act violations, having been released from prison in June. Harmanjeet Singh faces prior cases involving theft and dacoity and was released from custody in July. Police are continuing their investigation to trace local contacts and unravel the complete network.

This incident highlights how criminals operating from foreign soil are expanding their syndicates in Indian metropolises by luring local youth with money. While the proactive intelligence and coordination prevented a major assassination, countering such cross-border criminal networks will require much stricter diplomatic and technical measures.

This case clearly demonstrates how gangsters operating from foreign soil are easily exploiting and luring Indian youth with money to use them as pawns. While this tactical arrest along the Bawana-Kanjhawala Road successfully averted a targeted killing, such a trend poses a serious challenge to the capital's public safety. Investigative agencies must now further strengthen their technical capabilities to completely dismantle these operational sleeper cells and digital money trails.
