Actor and professional wrestler Sourav Gurjar, who gained widespread prominence for portraying Bheem in the television series Mahabharat, has been taken into police custody following a formal complaint by a woman. The complainant has accused him of harassment and deceitfully promising marriage before cutting off contact. Acting on the grievance, law enforcement personnel intercepted Gurjar at Mumbai airport and transferred him to Hyderabad to carry out legal proceedings, after which he was remanded to judicial custody.
Initial Online Interaction and Developing Proximity
According to the details outlined in the police complaint, the acquaintance between the two began in 2021 through the social media platform Instagram. The digital interaction soon transitioned to private messaging on WhatsApp, leading to frequent conversations and growing personal closeness over time. The complainant stated that Gurjar eventually assured her of marriage, establishing a relationship that continued both overseas and in India.
Relocation from Abroad and Commercial Plans
The woman further stated that the two resided together in the United States. She claimed that Gurjar persuaded her to quit her corporate employment in the US and return to India with him, dangling the prospect of settling down and launching a joint business enterprise. According to her statement, both stayed together from October 2025 through March 2026. However, she alleges that the actor subsequently began distancing himself and avoiding their mutual commitments.
Evasive Behavior and Abrupt Disappearance
The formal complaint states that whenever the complainant attempted to initiate serious discussions regarding marriage plans, Gurjar would evade the subject and repeatedly block her mobile phone number to cut off communication. Following March 2026, he reportedly vanished without any notice or forwarding information, leaving the woman unaware of his whereabouts. With all channels of communication abruptly severed, she approached the authorities for legal intervention.
Police Investigation by Gachibowli Authorities
Following the complaint, the Gachibowli police station in Hyderabad registered the case and initiated an investigation into the allegations. Upon tracking his movements, authorities detained Gurjar at Mumbai airport before escorting him back to Hyderabad for interrogation and procedural processing. He was subsequently remanded to judicial custody. Beyond his prominent role in television, Gurjar also appeared as an antagonist alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the feature film Brahmastra, in addition to his career in professional wrestling with WWE.
