A severe dispute over maintenance terms in a luxury residential complex in Gurugram has led to alarming allegations of unlawful confinement. A resident living in Trump Tower, situated in Sector 65, claimed that the building developer virtually put his household under house arrest after their private elevator access was shut down. The resident, Varun Suhag, along with his elderly mother and one-year-old child, remained trapped on the 36th floor for roughly 45 minutes until local law enforcement intervened to get the vertical transit restored.
Dispute in Multi-Crore Luxury Apartments
The high-end residential complex features ultra-luxury homes with massive price tags. In this development, a 3 BHK flat costs around 12 crore rupees, while a 4 BHK flat commands approximately 18 crore rupees. Despite the premium investment, relations between Varun Suhag and the developer deteriorated over maintenance charges and the agreement letter. Suhag alleged that as a retaliatory step, the builder ordered the suspension of elevator operations to his residence, creating a situation resembling house arrest. In addition to cutting off the lift, deliveries of daily supplies and external domestic services to the flat were also halted.
Allegations Against M3M Leadership and Safety Concerns
Suhag, who owns apartment 36C in Trump Towers Delhi NCR, Sector 65, Gurugram, leveled serious allegations directly against the director of M3M. Raising the issue on social media, he shared details of the encounter and published a video along with screenshots of WhatsApp messages sent to the tower's manager. He emphasized that shutting off crucial mobility services placed his family at immense physical risk, given the vulnerability of an infant and an aging parent.
Varun stated in his post, "I have been placed under house arrest by builder M3M and the management."
Suhag pointed out that a medical crisis could have erupted at any moment. Navigating 36 flights of stairs during a health emergency would be practically impossible, making the sudden withdrawal of elevator access potentially hazardous to life.
Police Step In to Restore Essential Services
Facing total isolation on the high-rise floor, the family filed an urgent complaint with the police. Officers promptly arrived at the location to address the complaint. Following police intervention, the elevator was restarted after a 45-minute outage, finally bringing relief to the stranded residents. While the core friction stems from unresolved terms regarding maintenance dues and the agreement letter, Suhag has demanded strict official accountability against the developer. Attempts to obtain an official statement or explanation from the builder regarding the accusations yielded no response.
