A renewed effort to upgrade the sports ground has officially kicked off in Dayalpur village of Faridabad district, bringing fresh hope to local athletes. The arena, renowned across the region for nurturing sporting talent, had recently fallen into neglect, with tall wild grass and uncleared litter creating severe hurdles for regular practice sessions. Ground workers and volunteers have now stepped in to systematically trim the overgrowth, mend the broken entrance gate, and restore the running track. Authorities are also mapping out a dedicated playing court exclusively for kabaddi matches.
Community Collaboration and Social Support Drive the Initiative
Following public attention on the neglected state of the venue about 10 days ago, local stakeholders mobilized to initiate ground-level repairs. Local resident Deepak observed that the cleanliness drive is already producing noticeable improvements across the complex. A tidy and safe ground will not only provide young athletes with an unhindered practice area, but it will also offer a clean recreational space for village elders and women during morning walks. He emphasized that maintaining hygiene across the sprawling complex will require sustained cooperation between the village panchayat and the community.
A Breeding Ground for National and International Sporting Champions
Another villager, Padam Singh, highlighted that the recent focus on the facility has prompted administrative and community attention. However, he noted that the infrastructure still falls far behind the remarkable achievements of local sportspeople. Dayalpur has produced outstanding athletes who have represented India and their home state in judo, archery, and kabaddi at both national and international tournaments. While appreciating the ongoing interventions steered by the village sarpanch, he underlined the urgent necessity for dedicated government grants to develop modern sports infrastructure.
Overcoming Budgetary Constraints with Local Partnerships
Addressing the ongoing work, Devender Singh, representative of the village sarpanch, explained that despite limited official development funds, the panchayat partnered with local residents and a social welfare organisation named Prayas to execute the cleanup. Plans are underway to repair boundary access points and upgrade the running track to match athletic standards. Villager Babloo Hooda pointed out that rural development initiatives must translate into tangible, ground-level results, demanding administrative accountability and proactive civic participation.
Veteran Athletes Advocate for Enhanced Training Facilities
Sharing his perspective, Parvinder Hooda, currently serving as a chief judo coach with the Indian Railways and a resident of Dayalpur, recalled honing his skills on this very ground. Parvinder represented the nation at the 2006 Asian Games and also competed in the World Cup after training at this modest rural arena. Noting that the village maintains a rich tradition of winning medals and presently runs a small grassroots academy on the grounds, he stressed that upgrading facilities would give the next generation of village children a genuine chance to thrive in competitive sports.
