Commercial hubs across Rajasthan, including Jaipur and Udaipur, have witnessed a sharp resurgence in consumer footfall with the arrival of Navratri and the countdown to Diwali. In Jaipur's historic bullion and jewellery district, retail showrooms are experiencing persistent crowds as buyers return in large numbers, bringing visible cheer to local merchants who had previously faced subdued trading conditions. Bullion traders note that consumer momentum this festive season has already outpaced last year's figures, creating widespread expectations of a record-setting festive turnover.
Steep Price Correction of 20 to 22 Percent Revives Buyer Sentiment
The primary driver behind this sudden uptick in market activity is a substantial retreat in precious metal valuations over recent months. Outlining the underlying market factors, established jewellery merchant Suresh Khandaka stated that gold and silver rates witnessed a significant correction of 20 to 22 percent leading up to the festive period. During the corresponding period last year, an abrupt surge in bullion prices severely dented jewellery retail, forcing consumers to cut back on discretionary purchases and leaving trade desks with heavy volume losses. In contrast, the current price drop and subsequent stability have provided crucial budget relief to households, making it an opportune moment for festive and investment-led acquisitions.
Current Price Structure Across 24, 22, and 18 Karat Segments in Jaipur
Precious metal pricing in the Jaipur market continues to track local bullion supply and international trading patterns. According to prevailing official benchmarks in Jaipur, pure 24-karat gold stands at 1,51,570 rupees per 10 grams. Meanwhile, 22-karat jewellery gold, which forms the core of domestic festive and wedding demand, is quoted at 1,38,950 rupees per 10 grams, with select categories trading near 1,38,310 rupees. For lighter and contemporary ornaments, 18-karat gold is priced at 1,13,677 rupees per 10 grams. In the white metal category, silver maintains strong investor demand, with spot prices standing firm at 2 lakh 30 thousand rupees per kilogram.
Advance Wedding Bookings and Middle-Class Participation Drive Stability
Beyond immediate festive requirements, early preparations for the upcoming winter wedding season are providing steady underlying support to order books. Jewellery trader Rajesh Agarwal pointed out that families with impending marriage ceremonies are actively locking in orders through advance bookings and direct jewellery purchases. A defining feature of the current cycle is the absence of erratic swings; daily price fluctuations have stayed within a modest band of 1,000 to 1,500 rupees. This day-to-day stability has created an ideal window for middle-class households to plan purchases without fear of intraday price shocks. Merchants anticipate that if this pricing stability holds through Diwali, Jaipur's bullion and jewellery trade could surpass its historical business benchmarks.
