A shocking incident of brutal murder has come to light from Kwali village in the Sonipat district of Haryana, where an elderly man was attacked over a mutual dispute and eventually succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The tragic turn of events has sparked widespread outrage among local residents and the victim's family, who are now demanding strict justice and accountability from the local authorities.
According to available details, the violent episode took place late at night on October 5. Two local youths, identified as Ravi and Ravinder, both residents of Kwali village, ambushed an elderly resident named Lal Singh and struck him repeatedly on the head with wooden sticks. The deceased, Lal Singh, earned his livelihood by making earthen pots. On the night of the incident, he had gone outside the village to check on the spot where his pottery was being baked. Reports indicate that both suspects were heavily intoxicated at the time of the assault. Following the brutal blows, Lal Singh lost consciousness, and the attackers fled the scene, leaving him behind. After regaining consciousness some time later, the victim managed to return home, where his relatives immediately rushed him to a hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was subsequently shifted to Rohtak PGI for advanced medical care.
Despite ongoing medical treatment, Lal Singh passed away today, plunging his family into deep grief. In the wake of his death, the bereaved relatives launched scathing allegations against the local police force, accusing them of gross negligence and mishandling the case. The family claimed that during the ongoing interrogation process, one of the accused, named Ravinder, managed to escape directly from police custody. Meanwhile, the authorities have managed to arrest the second suspect, Ravi, and sent him to jail.
Addressing the media regarding the lapse, ACP Joginder Singh stated that the police had detained the suspects for questioning and an internal inquiry is underway against the concerned investigating officer. He confirmed that a formal notice has been issued to the investigating officer over the escape of the accused from custody. The ACP assured the victim's family that the absconding suspect would be tracked down and arrested very soon. Furthermore, he emphasized that if any police personnel are found to have acted negligently or colluded in the escape, strict disciplinary action will be initiated against them. The Kharkhoda police station is continuing its thorough investigation into the matter.
