Approximately 20 to 25 patients requiring kidney transplants visit the outpatient department (OPD) at LLR Hospital every month. Previously, the absence of local transplant facilities forced these individuals to rely on prolonged medication and maintenance hemodialysis or seek care in distant urban centers. The activation of renal transplantation at GSVSS PGI is expected to provide timely, life-saving organ replacement to critically ill patients without requiring long-distance travel.
